Teams allow participants to combine their fundraising efforts toward a shared goal while still maintaining their own individual fundraising pages. Team fundraising can encourage friendly competition, increase engagement, and make it easy to recognize groups that are making the biggest impact.

Enabling Teams for Your Peer-to-Peer Event

Before participants can create or join teams, team fundraising must be enabled for your event.

  1. Open your Peer-to-Peer event.

  2. Select Edit Fundraising Settings.

  3. Scroll to the Participant Fundraisers section.

  4. Turn on Allow Participants to Form Teams.

  5. Save your changes.

Once enabled:

  • Participants can create a new team or join an existing one while setting up their fundraising page.

  • Your public fundraising pages can display team fundraising totals and recognize your top-performing teams.

Note: If this setting is turned off, participants will only be able to create individual fundraising pages.

How Participants Create or Join a Team

After registering for your event, participants can begin setting up their fundraiser using the Start Fundraising link in their registration confirmation email.

During fundraiser setup, participants can choose to:

  • Fundraise individually without joining a team.

  • Join an existing team.

  • Create a brand-new team.

When creating a new team, the participant simply enters a team name and completes their fundraising page setup. They automatically become that team's captain, and the new team becomes available for future participants to join.

Admin Tools for Tracking and Managing Teams

Understanding the Teams Dashboard

When Teams are enabled, your event includes a Teams page where you can monitor team performance.

From the Teams page, you can view:

  • Team names

  • Total funds raised

  • Outstanding pledged revenue

  • Amount of pledged revenue collected

  • Total received

  • Number of participants on each team

If needed, you can also edit a team's name, such as correcting a spelling mistake or updating the team's title.

Assigning Fundraisers to Teams

You can also manage team assignments from the Fundraisers dashboard.

Each participant's fundraising record displays the team they belong to, making it easy to see team membership at a glance.

If a participant has not yet joined a team—or needs to be moved—you can:

  1. Locate the participant on the Fundraisers page.

  2. Open the participant's action menu.

  3. Select Edit.

  4. Choose an existing team or create a new one on the participant's behalf.

  5. Save your changes.

This allows administrators to quickly organize participants without requiring them to update their own fundraising pages.

How Donors Can Follow Team Progress

When Teams are enabled, visitors to your event's public giving page can easily follow team fundraising progress alongside individual fundraisers.

As donors browse the event page, they'll first see the list of individual fundraisers. Below that, they'll find a Top Teams leaderboard that highlights the highest-performing teams based on funds raised.

By default, the leaderboard displays the top three teams, with the option to Show More or Show Less to view additional rankings.

Donors can also learn more about a participant's team by opening that participant's fundraising page. Alongside the participant's fundraising progress, they'll be able to see:

  • The team the participant belongs to

  • The team's fundraising progress

  • The number of participants on the team

This makes it easy for supporters to follow their favorite teams, celebrate their progress, and encourage a little friendly competition throughout your campaign.
