Creating a Birthday Fundraiser

What is a Birthday Fundraiser, and when should you use one?

A Birthday Fundraiser is a peer-to-peer giving page built around supporters who want to raise money for your organization in place of receiving birthday gifts. Instead of a physical collection drive or a ticketed event, each supporter's page is tied to their own birthday — a milestone year, or just their day this year — giving them a simple, on-brand page to share with friends and family.

In FundEasy, this works as a parent page with personalized supporter pages underneath it. You create one Birthday Fundraiser page for your organization, and each participant gets their own personalized page that rolls up to it — so all the individual gifts count toward one shared total, even though every supporter has their own story, photo, and link to share.

There's no public form for supporters to spin up their own page on their own. A supporter joins by using an invite link: either you send it to them proactively, or you send it in response to a request when someone asks to fundraise for their birthday.

What You Can Do with a Birthday Fundraiser

Individual pages, not teams

Unlike the Baby Bottle Campaign template, team fundraising isn't available here — there's no option to enable it. Any number of supporters can join the parent page with their own personalized fundraiser, but each one represents a single person's ask rather than a group.

Run it on the supporter's own timeline

An end date is optional. You can set a short window around the actual birthday, or leave it blank so the page can keep collecting gifts if friends and family give a little later.

Capture both one-time and recurring gifts

Recurring giving is enabled by default, so a friend who wants to turn their birthday gift into ongoing monthly support can do that right from the same page.

Show momentum with goals and progress

A fundraising goal, progress bar, and donor count are all available to help the page's network see it building toward its target in real time — a natural way to keep the ask visible in the days around the birthday.

Add the leaderboard if it fits

The leaderboard is off by default, the same as it is on other giving page templates, but it can be switched on if you want to rank participant pages against each other — a natural fit once you have several supporters fundraising under the same parent page.

Collect pledges, not just payments

Pledges are enabled by default, so supporters who want to commit to a gift before they're ready to pay can still be counted toward the goal.

How to create a Birthday Fundraiser

Setting this up has two parts: you create the parent page once, then get individual supporters onto it as they come on board.

Part 1: Create the parent page

  • From your FundEasy dashboard, go to Giving > New.

  • Select Birthday Fundraiser from the list of giving page templates.

  • FundEasy creates a new giving page pre-filled with defaults suited to this campaign type.

  • Review and edit the fields you'd like to change — headline, mission statement, banner image, donation amounts, fundraising goal, and so on.

  • Save and publish the page.

Note: the internal name and page slug are generated automatically and kept unique if you leave them blank. The page slug itself isn't exposed for manual editing on the form.

Part 2: Get supporters onto it

There's no public form for supporters to join on their own — each one needs an invite link from you.

  • When a supporter wants to fundraise for their birthday (or you'd like to invite one), generate their invite link from the parent page.

  • Send the supporter that link directly.

  • The supporter uses the link to set up their own personalized page — their name, story, photo, and goal — which rolls up to the parent page's total.

  • The supporter shares their personal link with their own friends and family to start collecting gifts.
